AI is transforming industries faster than ever, and one of the biggest fears people have is that it will replace human jobs. But is that really the full story? As someone studying IT and UX design, I see a more balanced picture—one that’s about evolution, not extinction.
The conversation about AI replacing human workers is one of the most important and misunderstood topics in technology today. It’s easy to focus on the fear that machines will take away jobs, but I believe the reality is more complex. Throughout history, technology has always shifted the job landscape—sometimes replacing certain roles, but also creating entirely new ones that never existed before. As an IT student at DePaul University, I’ve learned that AI has the potential to make work more efficient and meaningful if we adapt to it with the right mindset. The key is learning how to manage, collaborate with, and guide AI tools rather than viewing them as competitors.
In the same way that calculators didn’t destroy math, AI won’t destroy the workforce—it will redefine it. The challenge lies in preparing people with the skills that complement automation, such as creativity, problem-solving, and human empathy. Instead of fearing replacement, we should focus on building resilience and continuous learning. I see a future where AI handles repetitive, time-consuming tasks, allowing humans to focus on innovation, ethics, and design—areas that require uniquely human insight.
