Studying IT at DePaul University has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I’ve learned so much—but I’ve also realized how challenging it can be to bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world.
My experience at DePaul University has been both challenging and inspiring. Studying Information Technology with a minor in User Experience Design has opened my eyes to how interconnected technology and people really are. I’ve gained valuable technical knowledge—from programming and networking to understanding how design impacts accessibility and inclusion. What I appreciate most about DePaul is its emphasis on applying technology ethically and creatively to real-world problems.
That said, as I move closer to graduation, I sometimes worry about the competitive job market and how limited hands-on experience can make the transition from school to industry intimidating. But those thoughts motivate me to keep growing—through internships, freelance projects, and continuous learning. My time at DePaul has given me more than just skills; it’s given me perspective. I now see technology not just as a career, but as a way to create positive impact in the world—especially for underrepresented communities who deserve equal access to innovation.
